Crabbing Experience

Have you ever been crabbing? And "chicken-necking" or simply throwing a crab pot off your dock does not qualify. Why not sign up for the experience of a lifetime when you go to Tangier Island - go out on a crab boat with a Tangier Island waterman. See for yourself how the the watermen catch crabs, then stop by a crab shedding house and learn how soft shell crabs come into being. What an experience you and maybe your kids will never forget!  The excursion takes about one hour and begins immediately after the Steve Thomas arrives in port.

The number of people who can go on this excursion is limited every day, so whenever you decide to take our cruise to Tangier Island, be sure to contact us ahead of time to book space on a crab boat. You can either email or telephone our office to sign up.

The Price

The crabbing excursion is:

$25.00 per person

Board a crab boat and experience the waterman's life on Tangier Island, harvesting the waters around the island to make a living. 

Then stop by a crab shedding house and learn how soft shell crabs come into being.
